Swords to Plowshares
So this week I went signature hunting, re-re-revising my thesis pdf, etc…
Had I not finished today, I would have had to go through this extra stage of waiting and paperwork to sign up for summer classes because I missed some meaningless deadline. After a brief crisis today, I ended up finishing everything from Dr. Lillios’ laptop in her kitchen. I finished with about 18 minutes left before the deadline.
It is finished. I am a free man.
It’s time to take what I learned and make it my own. I never again want to be swept up in someone else’s insecure, existentialist ideological debate. I never again want to be told what a composer should do. I never again want my own intentions to be questioned. Now I close the door on the endless waste of comp seminar, and bid farewell to the clashing ideologies.
My disposition has changed completely. All I want is peace and quiet. For a while, at least. Breathing room. I want to be bored for a change. I look back with fatigue, not regret. I need some distance between me and the past year or two.
Teaching aural skills was a pleasure, but I’m glad to be done with that, too. I’m curious to get my evaluations back, but I almost don’t even want to look at them.
I am looking forward to every single day of this summer.
It will be a hard life.
One without reward, without remorse, without regret.
A path will be placed before you.
The choice is yours alone.
Do what you think you cannot do.
It will be a hard life, but you will find out who you are.

Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.

No, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm ready for. I don't want excitement; all I want is peace.
