Long Time No Blog Post

I can't believe it has been just over three months since my last blog post. I've either been too distracted trying to keep up with everything to take the time to post, or too distracted with pointless diversions to realize that I have nothing to say.

Honestly, for the past few months, there's not much to say other than I'm trying to get out of this night job. And that's not exactly the sort of thing that's wise to broadcast online very often. So I've kept a low profile.

Meanwhile, on Facebook and Twitter, it's just more of the same. I use Facebook to stay informed and amused, but it ends up being either aggravating or discouraging. Twitter is even less rewarding or interesting than that.

I know that any remaining interest in this blog has died out long ago, and not posting for three months has probably ruined its chances of ever being a regular habit again.

Well, I have to get out of here. I wasted a lot of time chasing a couple of leads and ended up standing out in the proverbial rain. This included spending entire weekends studying and testing... for nothing, apparently. Now, I'm redirecting that energy towards what I should have been doing all along: studying piano methods hardcore. I've collected many books on being a private instructor, and I think my resources have me covered on everything from preparing studio documents to doing the actual teaching.

What I really need is a deus ex machina in the form of a part-time job that would allow me to instantly quit this night job and start gathering clients, because I don't have the capital to cover my living expenses for the first few months of building.

Meanwhile, the new season has been a letdown. The scope of my involvement pales in comparison to that of last year's, although I must say I do have a nigh insurmountable queue of horror movies and reading acquired over the course of the past year! I have more scary stories/movies than you can shake a pumpkin at, all acquired at dirt-cheap bargain prices, mostly used on Amazon, one bit at a time.

But I've been mostly too busy to enjoy them. I did take a night off of all this scrambling around last weekend to carve a few Jack-o'-lanterns with a few horror movies in the background and a few beers in my belly. Of course, those pumpkins were rotting within 24 hours, but at least I got a few pictures for my Facebook album.

I'll watch the worst of the worst, too. Some of the movies I've collected come in the form of anywhere from 4- to 20-packs, and if you can buy 20 movies in one volume for ten bucks or less, they're either public domain or just too shitty for words. Most of the time, it's just a form of "comfort food" for the soul, reminding me of sitting around with the Captain and the Amazing Brando, laughing at how bad these movies can be. Sometimes there are some entertaining ones, though. This year has been more about catching up on the classics that I, a horror fan, have never actually seen: the 80s icons that spawned countless sequels.

Other than that, it's just work, work, work. My nights off are harder than my nights on. That is the real reason I haven't blogged in a whole season. Nothing to say. Dull, boring, dead life. I tried growing a pumpkin patch, but they died a couple months ago. I wasn't around enough to water them.

I just wish I had more time to stop and smell the... cinnamon and clove?

A few friends are probably visiting Austin this Halloween, which is a grand thing. That will make up for missing out on everything else, but there's still a chance I can go to House of Torment between now and then.

For now, that's all I have to report. I could have made this better, but my shift ends in... right now. I'm going home. I won't even proofread.
