Boss Battle

Once you make your way into the inner sanctum, you will find a save point next to a large, menacing door. Take this opportunity to use a Tent to replenish your HP, and be sure to equip the Ribbon before proceeding.

In the next room, you will encounter the Job Interviewer and the fight will begin. Start by setting up your defensive spells—particularly Haste 2, Regenerate, and Barrier 2. Don’t bother wasting any MP on attack magic, because the Interviewer is impervious to pretty much everything. Just stick to your heavy hitters and keep up defenses for the first phase of the battle.

The boss has two heads. After you take out enough HP, it will rotate heads and you will be confused by its Ambiguous Gaze. This is why you must equip the Ribbon, because if you don’t have someone free to dispel the other party members, you could be wiped out in a few rounds. During this phase of the battle, you can use attack spells (Fire spells work really well since the Job Interviewer seems to prefer cold), but your physical attacks won’t be of much use. From here on out, it’s all about timing your attacks to slip under the boss’s sporadic Shield spells. It’s tricky, because the Job Interviewer is prepared for pretty much everything, but after a bit of trial-and-error, you can defeat it in a few solid blows.

After the battle, there will be a short cutscene, and you will end up in the tunnel leading to the surface. Be sure to pick up an Elixer in the corner. Once you leave, you won’t be able to go back for it.

I tried to play RPG's once and I didn't like it because my characters died too much. It was really stressful.

Too bad real life is kinda like a RPG.

Yeah, sometimes the strategy involved in life is overwhelming. And I'm always out of potions... why is that? Why can't I find any potions?

Action games aren't much better, though. Like Julio pointed out, in real life you can't just squat over a cheeseburger in the middle of the street and replenish your health.

Perhaps. But I'd like to see you try.

I mean come on, you did say you'd squat over it! It'd be like that ep of South Park when everyone started eating through their asses and shitting out of their mouths.

good times, eh?

Oh... *chuckle* we were already going.

Or was it I that wrote a strategy guide for the job interview process, as if interviewing was a fantasy RPG?

Nope. That was you.

Not me baby. Not me.

I vote for quityerbitchin. It usually ends up there sooner or later. I would argue at the 10th comment stage that I am the ultimate comment killer. Just look at my own blog for evidence.

I agree. Usually you are above all this drivel. No, not usually--invariably.

But as far as you killing your own blog... I generally refrain from taking up the mantle. Your blog seems to have a... um... slightly more cerebral patronage than mine. I wouldn't want to bring you down.

NOW. Let the countdown begin...

[winks] watch this...

YEAH, SO, UM... THAT AL GORE IS A GIANT DOUCHE BAG, AND ANYONE WHO LIKES TERRY RILEY IS A TOTAL SPAZ...

We should totally queue up John Du Prez's theme from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for your Boss Battle.

So you have elected the path of peanut butter.

Although this post seems to want to die before the predicted 39 comments... we may never know. On the other hand, I violated the Prime Directive by influencing the natural (de)evolution of the comments.

Come on. Boss Battle. Like it's from a video game, yes, but also like you're battling the boss of an office. That was clever!

How's that working out for you?
What, being clever?

Maybe the Number 11 is nothing*

Peanut butter is a food paste made primarily from ground roasted peanuts, with or without added oil.

Kneel before blog.

Hey, a little off-topic... but whenever you get over your problems with Logic and your Gigasamples, could you give me the name of a good video game composer? I'm turning my adventures battling secret armies of British thespians and easily dispatched werewolves, with a hot German Frau at my side, into an over-the-gun RPG, and need a good score. Something like Metal Gear Solid 4 or The Tigger Movie.
