Breather
Life is an unremitting series of boss battles and no save points.
It is increasingly difficult to “get away” these days. I have accumulated a week of paid vacation days that I can’t actually use. I have the all-too-rare opportunity to leave town this weekend, and I am taking it. I am going to my brother’s house in St. Charles, where several other people are meeting for Game Day—total, unbridled sloth, planned months ago. Besides, there’s no karate Saturday anyway, so I’m hardly being irresponsible by skipping it.
I have a lot on my plate (far more than people give me credit for, evidently) and I will continue these priorities on Sunday evening. Do note that I am not complaining, I am not whining, I am not pontificating, and I am not stressing. I am simply being matter-of-fact about this: I owe no explanations, and I shouldn’t have to prove anything. I am taking a brief respite after which I will reassume my endeavors in productivity. I will explain more at that time. After all, I suppose you only know what I tell you.
I am leaving straight from work this afternoon.

Time off? Time out? A complete break from everything?
I'm jealous.

Speaking of boss battles... I did actually like D&D minis. Despite what you may think :)

Well, none of us have ever played before, and I'm a video gamer, not a D&D guy, so... yeah. It was almost a disaster.
Based on the Miniatures game, I can say that there's no way I would want to try my hand at the "real thing." And any game that goes on longer than 2 hours starts to piss everyone off; I don't know how some people can spend a whole afternoon every weekend on it.
I'm customizing my own "hybrid" rules for next time. It'll be sweet.
"Games... here's some games... games you wanna get out... see? More games. Games, they--they vegetize you. OOH-OOH!! You play their games, it's like you're voluntarily taking a tranquilizer."

I await it... with breath. Perhaps 'bated. Perhaps not.

I would breathe normally if I were you, since this sort of thing seems to happen about once every eight months.

That World of Warcraft card game was actually pretty fun, too... despite my only exposure to the franchise being that one episode of South Park. I guess the card game is more fun because it takes like 20 minutes, not 20 days.

Yes. I wouldn't touch the online game myself. Not my cup of tea. But the card game was fun.

Games like that are too expansive. They never end. What's the point? Oh well, some people like it, I guess. I'd rather play a Final Fantasy.
On the other hand, my copy of Final Fantasy XII is still in its plastic wrap from when I got it for Christmas LAST YEAR.

You need an emulator. Then you could save anywhere.
Speaking of jerky, I'm breaking into ShinRa headquarters tomorrow. You want in? So far I've only got Tifa in my party, and we need an ornery guy with a gun arm that isn't Barret, Mega Man, or Marlene's crazy-ass dad.
Whew, I'm breaking out in a sweat. I need to stop consuming the souls of my dead pets.

Well, I am left-hand...
I think of myself as more of a Cid Highwind. Except I don't smoke. And I don't resemble Matthew McConaughey.

left-hand? left-handed...
I ruined the joke. Joke? I ruined the... semi-amusing comment.
