The Shape of Things to Come

As executive producer, I held a meeting to address the poor ratings of my life. The writing has been dull and formulaic recently. As much as I would like to fire the writers, they have a contract. So we just got together and discussed some of the major shortcomings, as well as ideas for improving the program.

First of all, there are not enough set changes. We need to have more story arcs that take place outside of the main locations. We need to spend more budget on special effects, too. Maybe throw in a few more car chases.

Wardrobe is fine. Nobody needs to be fired in that department. Although, perhaps a slight change in the outfit would be welcome. Maybe a dramatically different haircut is all it would take—perhaps cut very short—symbolic of the change in the direction of the story. Hmm… perhaps a mullet?

There simply aren’t enough cameos, either. Maybe more can be done to focus on the rest of the cast. I really don’t know how to go about revamping my life in an acceptable way. I’m sure there will be a lot going on around May sweeps, but I need some kind of catch for February… maybe more nude scenes? No, that always gets a negative reaction…

I’ll hold another meeting about it sometime this week. This time, it will be complete with pie charts and line graphs. Maybe by then we’ll know what to do with my life.

EXPLOSIONS!!!

Audiences love it when shit gets blowed up real good - definitely more explosions...and maybe a monkey!

"I think Ariel needs to be raped by Father Corey"
"Bolt needs to get mugged by some colored guys"
"Colored guys?!?!"

Definitely.

Or how about this:
an exploding monkey!!

Oooh, what if I killed off a minor character? That might heat things up...

Who shall it be...

I got it.

The Captain bites it in a glorious fashion: swordfighting undead Nazis atop a crashing zeppelin high above a sea filled with prehistoric sharks.

Whatever you do, don't pull a Star Trek and start dickin' around with the space/time continuum, m'kay!

Time travel stories are so 2003!

p.s. Undead Nazis...with chainsaws!!!

What if I time travil back to 2003 when time travel was cool?

And the crashing zeppelin has to be on fire. And there must be several hang-gliding mummies throwing knives at Captain Obvious.

After the Captain bites it you could come back to rescue him in manchild form, kill the Klingons, scuttle the Enterprise and then go back in time!

Are you sure you don't want to change your mind?
What's wrong with the one I have?

"Oh I hate mummies"

Seriously though, let's get back to the exploding monkeys for a minute.

Will they be used as a weapon?

Will they spontaneously combust or have charges inside them?

If it's charges, will they be...rectal charges?

Do you have a banana?

Do the monkeys work for the Evil Nazi Overlord?

Are they pissed about having explosive charges up their asses?

Are these...flying monkeys? Do they have wings?

If they have wings, will you be able to hear the Evil Nazi Overlord cry, "FLY MONKEYS, FLY!!!" before sending them into battle?

When did the Klingons get here?

Did somebody let Troi pilot the Enterprise again? You know that's why it crashes all the time?!

Does the Captain have a Boomstick?!

"Shop smart...shop, S-mart!"

This is like, the 12th Season or whatever, definitely time to kill off a major character! Give them an alien tumor. That way they can say, "It's not a tumor!" just before it bursts from their skull!

Give me a banana!

Now you're in full Socrates mode.

"I drank what?"

I think the Klingon presence at the White House would be a welcome crossover. Crossovers are good because you effectively double your viewership.

After the Captain's heroic and SPECTACULAR finish, he does in fact return from the dead. However, instead of having scar tissue or a boomstick or whatever, he is recruited among the ranks of the Zombie Nazi Regime. He quickly becomes a general of the undead. Yeah. Making a former hero into a villain is a great way for a new nemesis to be born. This would be the best thing since Locutus of Borg.

AND. And... the Captain gains control of the flying monkeys with explosive banana grenades.

Fortunately, before all this happened, a Swiss scientist with giant breasts managed to clone Captain Obvious from a tissue sample just before going on that fateful zeppelin mission.

So now there are two Captains.

I SMELL A SPINOFF......

Meanwhile, Starbuck wins a pirate ship in a high-stakes game of Deception. The Pikey inherits an invisibility cloak, and Mac grows and extra pair of arms and doubles in muscle mass and height.

All the while, I continue working at Executemps as a cover for secretly being an agent for SD-6.

NOW, things are interesting.

Too much plot? Kind of like that episode of Clerks...

You just be glad you're not the one the writers will kill off.

...and Dean is revealed to be a Cylon.

Much of the "original cast" at work has left the show. Not my officemates, but coworkers nontheless. I think four people have left, maybe five. I wonder if the new characters will add a danger element...?

Sorry, Cap'n. I've noticed these posts have a shelf life of about 7 days. If I don't post anything new, the comments could go on forever...

Hey, it's almost the weekend. I can pick up a bottle of SoCo and give you a ring. For an hour and a half. Heh? Eh?

No, wait. That is the very definition of a "rut"... better steer clear of the usual attempts to disguise desolation with alcohol and cell phones.

You dodged a bullet THIS time, Captain...

...but you can't dodge fotry-three undead Nazis with chainsaws.
