Here's to the Losers
It’s been another long day of malnutrition and mindless, dead-end office work, but my spirits are high because the snow is melting and it almost feels like spring.
Here's to those who love, not wisely no, not too wisely, but too well.
To the girl who sighs with envy when she hears that wedding bell.
To the guy who'd throw a party if he knew someone to call.
Here's to the losers – bless them all.
My neck is stiff from sitting at the scanner most of the day, and my car is doing funny things with the automatic shift, but my spirits are high because I just sat down with a cup of the best coffee in the city.
Here's to those who drink their dinners when that lady doesn't show.
To the girls who wait for kisses underneath the mistletoe.
To the lonely summer lovers when the leaves begin to fall.
Here's to the losers – bless them all.
Half of my music software refuses to install while the other half won’t work right, and my shoes wear holes in the big toe of any pair of socks I wear, but my spirits are high because there were no bills in the mail this week, and I can afford dinner at Panera if I want it.
Hey Tom, Dick and Harry, come in out of the rain,
those torches you carry must be drowned in champagne…
My spirits are high because I’m listening to James Darren while I settle in at Scooter’s to spend the next few hours outlining my short- and long-term goals, brainstorming for career moves, and searching for better temp jobs online. It’s essentially a futile attempt to take some sort of control over my lack of a life. The life of a postgraduate composer.
Here's the last toast of the evening, here's to those who still believe
all the losers will be winners, all the givers shall receive.
Here's to trouble free tomorrows, may your sorrows all be small.
Here's to the losers – bless them all!
