Avenging Angel
Alternate Title (UK Version): The Corruption of the Warrior Bard
Green light to Operation GTFO.
Saturday will be my last day at Gordman’s. Next week I’ll be taking over my sister’s position at the school back home. Yeah, that’s right: I’m riding my little sister’s coattails, totally mooching off of the reputation she earned at the school. There are many, many, many reasons this will be a good thing for me—not the least of which is that I can spend five hours at a time composing for a change, if that’s what I want to do with my night. Freedom.
Freedom… by living with your parents? Hmm. There’s something seriously FUBAR with the status quo when moving in with your parents at the age of 27 is considered a “step up” in the world. Yeah, so there’s a stigma. Oh well. I’m not doing it to impress the chicks. It will be a stepping-stone to a better walk of life, God willing. I digress.
At the very least, I can have my free time back. For the first time in a long time. Because from now on, the only jobs I will be searching and applying for are the jobs that I want to search and apply for.
But I have only a precious handful of hours over the next few days in which I may do the things I want to do before the end. None of those Side Quests are going to be completed, apparently. I’m just going to plow straight through the Story Mode.
There was an incident Sunday at work. I had a customer who, for no reason whatsoever, felt the need and the right to abuse me. I had to fight every natural instinct to defend myself based on the things she said. In this case, I actually, truly, deeply regretted not saying or doing “something I would regret later.”
I’ve had enough. Most people have an outlet for such tension. My personal life, however, is even more tense than my crap job. After a few months without an outlet, all that stuff piles high.
What do you get when you push someone with nothing to lose? What do you get when push a little too hard and too often?
Retribution.
I just want to be "in the wrong place at the right time," you might say, when I am on the other side of the counter for such an exchange. Yes, I want to step in and punish the wicked for assuming that a cashier is automatically inferior and deserving of abuse. And, unlike most people, I am one quick-witted mother fucker when I need to be. Unlike most people, I have no fear of confrontation. Now I just want to hurt people. I want to humiliate them. I want to punish them for the past three months of evil deeds I’ve witnessed amongst strangers, particularly during the Christmas season. I want to punish this town for resembling Overland Park in all the bad ways.
I hate… this town…
So I put on a domino mask and went into the night, on patrol, looking for trouble.
I didn’t find any satisfaction out of my anti-hero missions Sunday or Monday. And the past couple of days I’ve been busy baby-sitting, so I haven’t been able to stalk the night as much.
I am through being abused. And I am not going to stand idly by as some asshole rips into a waitress or cashier just for the hell of it, either. I am far too pissed off to let this shit slide anymore. I want to punish those who berate customer service employees who cannot defend themselves. I want to intimidate and humiliate those who intimidate and humiliate.
And pity the customer who tries to humiliate me on my last day. I don’t need a good reference that badly. Pride is irrelevant: this is about accountability. This isn’t a fucking video game. There are consequences to your actions. You can’t go around verbally abusing every innocent you meet just because you were born with a silver dildo in your mouth. Sooner or later, you’ll meet someone like me, and you’ll suddenly have more than you bargained for.
Do you think I’m kidding? Do you think I’m all talk? Talk is cheap. Yes, talk is cheap. Talk is cheap! My martial arts friends and I say that all the time. Talk is cheap. But I have nothing better to do than follow through with this. And I want it.
I am looking for trouble. And I’ll find it. And when I do, I’ll be fair. And what is fair? In a world like this, only chance is unbiased. We’ll flip for it. Heads… you live. Tails… you die.
I am an amalgam of Batman and his villains.

Reallly? No comments? Is everybody inching towards the door?
I give everyone a chance. It's not my fault if they blow it.

Just remember: if Operation GTFO stalls we'll be sending in an extraction team.
Don't forget to activate the signal this time.
