Denial
This weekend was pretty fun. Starbuck came over for a Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy marathon with Herr Vogler, after which we met up with Dean and his girlfriend for frozen Margaritas at Baja 600 at the Country Club Plaza. The best part about spring is that it’s not to hot or cold to sit out on the patio. There’s nothing like getting sloshed under the sun. Sure, it was a little bit crowded, being Cinco de Mayo and everything, but still.
Most of the rest of the weekend was spent tossing a Frisbee at Loose Park or playing Halo 3 at Dean’s house, but Herr Vogler and I did manage to fit in some time smoking Kahlua cigars and going over our current composition ideas. All in all, it was a great weekend. I hope everybody had just as much fun for Cinco de Mayo as we did.
Now that spring is finally here in full swing, all kinds of crazy nostalgic things pop up in my mind, as they always do when the season changes. Ah, the smell of fresh rain when it’s finally warm enough to open the windows and chill on the couch… anyway, I have been listening to the following scores ad infinitum, as part of my “after the thaw” spring listening urges:
Con Air (Trevor Rabin and Mark Mancina)
The Last Samurai (Hans Zimmer)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Harry Gregson-Williams)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (John Williams)
Saving Private Ryan (John Williams)
Lost: Season Three (Michael Giacchino)
Treasure Planet (James Newton Howard)
Terminator: Destiny’s End (Brad Fowler)
Camp Daze VII (Brad Fowler)

"Sorry, Pikey, I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought."
I'm just amazed that I scored a Terminator film; though I haven't seen any royalties...
And the score for Camp Daze VII. Sure was a doozy, wasn't it? Good thing I took the John Ottman approach and directed the film myself!

Aren't those the little savory phyllo-dough pastries filled with spinach and cream cheese?

Others might see insanity in this post.
I see hope. (And a little insanity.)
