First Snow
Black Friday was a joke. I experienced no stress. I’m actually disappointed with how easy it is to be a cashier. The only thing that sucked was that I caught a cold and wanted to lie down all day instead of stand around and ring people out.
So the season has officially begun. Welcome to my playlist, Vince Guaraldi and Frank Sinatra. I worked so much that I barely got to see Starbuck, but we did get a chance to scheme at the coffee shop. Meanwhile, the fridge is full of leftovers, I’m revamping my pack of CDR mixes for driving, Main Street is adorned with festive lights, and I have a raging desire to watch The Fugitive for some reason.
After closing the store tonight, while driving in my car, the drizzle turned to snow. It came on suddenly, transforming the night like a George Lucas transitional wipe. I passed on the temptation to stop for a beer on a Saturday night (decided not to repeat last weekend’s mistake). I just drove home, reflecting on how anyone else would have found it beautiful. Indeed, Chopin’s Nocturne in E-flat ended just as I pulled into the cul-de-sac, the clock striking midnight. It seemed appropriate somehow, on this silent night. I should have felt more nostalgic, but I was just bummed for various reasons. Maybe I was partly reminded of my own Snowfall Nocturne, a four-hands piano piece that contains the single most awkward retransition anyone has ever written, and has thus never been performed. I should probably look into revising that piece. Yeah, I'll add that to the list of "somedays." Why else was I bummed? I'm not sure... maybe the Ny Quil is finally kicking in.
Maybe next Christmas I’ll have my own place to decorate.
Next year, then. I shall wait one more year. Promises…

Seriously, though, it was nice waking up to a pristine blanket of snow Sunday morning.

Well, I just watched The Fugitive. That's one problem solved.

Well, I guess too many people have been calling in sick. The manager just called in a pinch, and I agreed to close the store tonight. This'll be four nights in a row after Thanksgiving. Doesn't bother me to cancel my plans to go to the Tosche Station and pick up some power converters, but what pissed me off is that I've been sick this whole time. Kind of hard to get over a cold when they keep sending me out into the snow and rain to retrieve carts in the parking lot because I am the only male working at the time and for some reason that means I can push heavy things around in the elements.
Well, gotta go to work...

Notice I'm not complaining about the actual work, just the difference between me and everyone else there.

I would really like a tumbler of Crown Royal after work tonight.
