Zombie Nature

Z-Day +2. Food is being carefully rationed. Only six zombies assaulted the house thus far. Ammunition stores are still abundant. Travel is becoming extremely perilous, requiring two people to go out on daily trips to gather supplies. As it stands, we have enough food and water for five weeks of isolation. Meanwhile, tensions are high due to lack of sleep and excess of worry over loved ones. Cell phones aren’t getting through half of the time. Those who aren’t posted on watch or on outbound missions are to get some shuteye. Shifts are taken in what is fast becoming a solid routine.

We are trying to conduct experiments to determine what kind of zombies we’re up against. At the very least, we hope to provide strategic advice for you to handle them on your own, but if we’re extremely fortunate, we may even find a way to neutralize the zombie threat at its source. To find the nature of this particular breed of zombie, however, will require a lot of time and a lot of close encounters, which has already proved more than dangerous. In fact, we had to torch a house at the entrance to the cul-de-sac after the family living there was zombified. All we could ascertain is that the affliction spreads from blood or saliva and becomes fatal within 24 hours. Typical zombie stuff—no useful revelations yet.

More data is needed. We are considering a plan to go search for Patient Zero, to determine if he is in some way special.

One more thing: if you can't take it anymore, if you have decided to end it all, do us all a big favor and cap yourself properly. That’s right, I’m talking Jackson Pollock with your brain matter on the wall. None of that carbon monoxide wussie nonsense. At least make it so you can't come back as a zombie. Seriously, I thought the whole point of killing yourself was because you couldn’t bear the thought of becoming one of them?

That's all for now. As always, be careful out there. We will get through this.
