Southern Cross
I've been looking into an internship for next fall in Sydney. I'm going ahead with the application. Actually, I've been looking at Sydney seriously since March, but only now do I have a real opportunity. Or rather, the possibility of an opportunity. Sydney is the next Hollywood, after all. With far less whorish, narcissistic, materialistic egocentrism.
I also found a JKA Shotokan dojo conveniently located in the downtown area. That's quite a significant find, considering that I couldn't even find a dojo of that specific style anywhere close to Bowling Green, Ohio. So I'll take that as a sign that I'll get along just fine down under. Not that I wouldn't anyway, it's just that I refuse to sacrifice such a significant part of my identity for the sake of propelling my career.
Speaking of which, I'm thoroughly frustrated and challenged by this month's unwillingness to let me train properly. The rehearsals for the New Music Ensemble are usurping the time slots that are optimal for training. After the New Music Festival blows over, and after another week for the New Music Ensemble concert, I'll have a lot more time. Then, I will be able to really punish my body. It will be glorious, Reverend Yzon.
Also, I have a midterm in Music Tech I Thursday. Me. A second year grad student, having to study for a midterm exam. I'm getting too old for this sort of thing.
