Just Around the Bend
Blogging really does take an effort. It didn't used to be that way. I think it's just the new format that holds me back. They completely changed EVERYTHING about Blogger from the behind-the-scenes perspective. As with Facebook, I'm really not sure "change" always means "improvement."
I'm trying to stay on top of things. There's just so much to do with my time, and what I really need to do is compose hardcore so I can release some music. I have YouTube, Twitter, and SoundCloud accounts, but so far I haven't posted a single piece of music. Tonight, I think I'll at least post a couple mp3s on SoundCloud, because I'm seriously over-analyzing the reasons for and against any given individual piece.
I am ready for fall. The climate doesn't care what I want, though. But I think I'm going to just go ahead and bust out the plastic tub-o'-autumn and decorate my apartment. Yes. BRING IT.
I've already done some advance shopping the past few weeks, hoarding such things as garlands, candy corn lights, and Halloween-related books, DVDs, and even CDs. I bought five autumn-themed cookbooks from Gooseberry Patch, and I don't even really cook! What's wrong with me?! It can't be stopped! Basically, I've doubled my "Octoberness" stash from last year already.
Yeah, I'm ready to just call it a summer and move on.
Even though I have a lot going on, none of it is particularly conversation-worthy. Mainly I'm just trying to be productive. I have a bunch of music-business-related books to read, so that I may self-promote my products online. I have serious intentions about making albums for download, and I think it's about time I made some MONEY off of my education and craft!!
I have also since purchased many books related to teaching piano. I still have just the one piano student, the same person who was my very first student. I never recruited more after the others quit, one by one. I decided it's too demanding with my work/sleep schedule as it is. After I build my skills a bit more, and assuming I can get out of this night shift morass, I do have intentions of building a full piano studio. But not yet. Not yet.
I also need to get back into serious shape. I wanted to visit KC this November to train with Sensei Banks again, as well as to spar with the one known as "The Reverend," but because of my car I don't have the money, and I'm not in fighting shape anyway. I would just let them down, and I'm only going to go when I can get my money's worth.
Instead, I'm looking at a likely repeat visit by my old college roommate who was here just a few months ago. I'm looking forward to it. These things don't happen enough, and as long as I have this night job I can't seem to recruit any local adventurers to my party.
Until then, I have September and October to deal with. Work hard, play hard. Heavy on the music production, business reading, and a long list of autumnal delights.
I had a pumpkin spice latte earlier tonight. They're back.
